Statement issued by the Alawite Association in the United States of America regarding its series of meetings in Washington, D.C.

As part of its ongoing political activities, a delegation from the Alawite Association in the United States, led by Dr. Marhaf Ibrahim, held a series of official meetings in Washington, D.C. These meetings included a significant visit to the U.S. State Department, where the delegation met with Mr. Thomas Rosenberger, Director of Near Eastern Affairs.

During the meeting, the delegation reviewed key developments in Syria during the first 100 days of the de facto government's tenure, focusing on severe violations affecting minority groups, particularly in the Syrian coastal region. Mr. Rosenberger expressed his country's explicit condemnation of these violations and bloody events, voicing disappointment with the nature of the current government formation. This sentiment was reflected in the United States' stance at the United Nations, where the classification of the Syrian government's mission was downgraded from G1 to G3.

The delegation also met with Congressman Brian Mast, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the U.S. Congress, presenting the Association's vision for the political trajectory in Syria. They emphasized the necessity of drafting a comprehensive national constitution that reflects the aspirations of the Syrian people in all their diversity, as a fundamental step toward a comprehensive political solution. The delegation stressed that the current government does not represent a genuine path toward inclusive democracy nor reflect Syrian pluralism, instead operating on an exclusionary and unilateral vision. Congressman Mast reaffirmed his country's support for efforts to push for a change in the approach of the de facto administration, advocating for moving beyond extremist rhetoric and practices in favor of a more inclusive and open path aligned with the aspirations of Syrians and laying the foundation for sustainable peace.

Additionally, the delegation met with Congressman Darrell Issa, reiterating the Association's firm rejection of all forms of extremism. They emphasized that Syrian society enjoys rich cultural and civilizational diversity, qualifying it to build a democratic civil state based on principles of citizenship and justice. Congressman Issa expressed deep concern over the rapid developments in Syria, particularly regarding ongoing violations and the absence of genuine political representation.

في إطار أنشطتها السياسية المتواصلة، قام وفد من رابطة العلويين في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية، برئاسة الدكتور مرهف إبراهيم، بسلسلة من اللقاءات الرسمية في العاصمة الأميركية واشنطن. وقد شملت هذه اللقاءات زيارة مهمة إلى وزارة الخارجية الأميركية، حيث اجتمع الوفد بالسيد توماس روزنبرغر، مدير شؤون الشرق الأدنى.

استعرض الوفد خلال اللقاء أبرز التطورات في سوريا خلال المئة يوم الأولى من عمر حكومة الأمر الواقع، مع التركيز على الانتهاكات الجسيمة التي طالت مكونات الأقليات، ولا سيما في الساحل السوري. من جهته، أعرب السيد روزنبرغر عن إدانة بلاده الصريحة لهذه الانتهاكات والأحداث الدامية، وأبدى خيبة أمله من طبيعة التشكيلة الحكومية الحالية، ما انعكس على موقف بلاده في الأمم المتحدة، حيث تم تعديل تصنيف بعثة الحكومة السورية من G1 إلى G3.

كما التقى الوفد برئيس لجنة العلاقات الخارجية في الكونغرس الأميركي، النائب براين ماست، حيث جرى عرض رؤية الرابطة حيال المسار السياسي في سوريا، والتأكيد على ضرورة صياغة دستور وطني جامع يعكس تطلعات الشعب السوري بكافة مكوناته، كخطوة أساسية نحو حل سياسي شامل. وقد شدد وفد الرابطة على أن الحكومة الحالية لا تمثل مسارًا حقيقيًا نحو ديمقراطية شاملة، ولا تعكس التعددية السورية، بل تقوم على رؤية إقصائية أحادية. بدوره، أكد السيد ماست دعم بلاده للجهود الرامية إلى الدفع نحو تغيير نهج إدارة الأمر الواقع، وضرورة تجاوز الخطابات والممارسات المتطرفة لصالح مسار أكثر شمولية وانفتاحًا ينسجم مع تطلعات السوريين ويؤسس لسلام مستدام.

كذلك، التقى الوفد بعضو الكونغرس الأميركي النائب داريل عيسى، حيث جدد تأكيد الرابطة على رفضها القاطع لجميع أشكال التطرف، مشددًا على أن المجتمع السوري يتمتع بتنوع ثقافي وحضاري غني يؤهله لبناء دولة مدنية ديمقراطية تقوم على أسس المواطنة والعدالة. من جهته، عبّر النائب عيسى عن قلقه العميق إزاء التطورات المتسارعة في سوريا، خصوصًا ما يتعلق بالانتهاكات المستمرة وغياب التمثيل السياسي الحقيقي.
